Weekly Comic Book Review Top Picks

Ray’s Top Picks

Best of the Past Week: Red Robin #1 –  A pretty damn good opening chapter for a story of a Boy Wonder who still believes.

Most Anticipated for this Week: Although it should be Invincible Iron Man #63, I’m gonna be sucker and say X-Men Origins Gambit, just for nostalgic reasons. I shall be using my X-Men Series I Gambit hologram card to comb the pages of this (probably not worth nothing as the most anticipated book) #1.

Other Top Picks: Invincible Iron Man #63, Wonderful Wizard of Oz #7, Dead @ 17 Afterbirth #1, Air #10, Young Liars #16, Batman Streets of Gotham #1

Kyle’s Top Picks

Best of the Past Week:
Unwritten #2 – Serious, intelligent, and deep, Unwritten is a classic in the making.

Most Anticipated for this Week: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz #7 – I’ll be pretty depressed when the brilliant Oz mini-series wraps up.

Other Top Picks for this Week: Dark Reign: Young Avengers #2, Dead @ 17: Afterbirth #1, Captain Britain & MI:13 #14, Destroyer #3, Invincible Iron Man #14

Rob’s Top Picks

Best of the Past Week: Green Lantern Corps #37- So many great things about this book. Could it be DC’s best book on the stands?

Most Anticipated for this Week: Invincible #63- My consistently favorite book keeps getting better and better. Looking forward seeing what happens with Conquest.

Other Top Picks for this Week: Cable #15; Dark Tower The Fall Of Gilead #2; Destroyer #3; Incognito #4; Invincible Iron Man #14; Ultimatum Spider-Man Requiem #1; War Of Kings Ascension #; War Of Kings Ascension #3; Wolverine Origins #37; Wonderful Wizard Of Oz #7; X-Men Legacy #225

Alex’s Top Picks

Best of the Past Week: Unwritten #2 -While DMZ put up a solid fight, in the end Unwritten was the clear winner for me last week.  Smart as hell, classic Vertigo stuff here that yet again makes me salivate for next month’s issue.  This is a mystery that is both enthralling and relevant.

Most Anticipated this Week: Viking #2 – I loved #1, particularly the fantastic art, and I want to see where this comic is going.  It feels like ages since the first issue came out back in April.  While I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen thus far, I look forward to getting a better feel for the series as a whole.

DS’s Top Picks

Best of the Past Week: R.E.B.E.L.S. #5 is just a great, fast-paced series with great writing and great visuals.

Most Anticipated for this Week: Power Girl #2 – After last issue’s cliffhanger with the Ultrahumanite, I have to see this one.

Other Top Picks: Supergirl #42, Outsiders #19, X-Men Legacy #225
